Core bookkeeping

Monthly bookkeeping

A monthly cycle of coding, reconciliation and a period report for businesses that want a regular close.

Who it suits

Businesses with activity through the month that want the file brought up to date once the month has ended.

The problem it addresses

Leaving coding until quarter-end makes missing documents and miscodes harder to resolve.

Included

  • Monthly coding within the package limit
  • Reconciliation of included accounts
  • A monthly bookkeeping report
  • A list of missing source documents

Excluded

  • Weekly processing
  • Management commentary beyond the agreed report
  • Lodgement of activity statements

What you need to supply

  • Source documents during the month
  • Answers before the close
  • Confirmation of unusual transactions

How it is delivered

Documents are collected during the month. Reconciliation follows once statements are available. The period is not marked complete while a difference remains.

Pricing

Included in Essential, Business or Business Plus where the limits fit. Otherwise quoted.

Recurring monthly. Catch-up of older months is separate.

Turnaround and dependencies

The target is to complete the close after statements and required answers are received. A date is confirmed for the engagement; it is not a guaranteed statutory deadline.

  • Monthly package or quote
  • Statements for the month

When a person needs to assess the file

Required if the month includes a large backlog, multiple entities or unsettled opening balances.

Professional limits

A monthly report summarises the bookkeeping file. It is not an audit or a tax return.

How to purchase

Select monthly frequency in the plan builder or enquire if the file needs a custom close timetable.

Questions

Is monthly the same as BAS preparation?

No. Monthly bookkeeping maintains the file. BAS preparation and lodgement are separate and, where regulated, need an authorised practitioner.
